My Third Episode

Welcome to the third episode of the podcast about my crafts.

In this episode I talk about my past month activities and my knitting progress. I also talk about the Plant Dyeing class I took in Zurich. At the end of the episode I show my yarn and book acquisitions of the past month

Enjoy!

What I learned:

I took a Plant Dyeing class in the Stitching Retreat held on May 9th in Zurich. I have always wanted to learn how to dye with plants. The class was held by Anna & Juan.

This is how I dyed my skein. On the left you can see the weld pot and on the right is the madder pot. At the end, I dip the middle of the skein (the undyed part in this picture) under the onion skins pot.

and here it is my skein 🙂

What I finished:

My self striping sock in the “Who Fancies Macarons” colourway. I knit these with a sample yarn I dyed last year.

I manage to finish my socks 🍭///J'ai fini mes chaussettes! #kalchaussettes #selstriping #colourfulsocks #colourfulstitches #sockknitter #socks #chaussettes #mediasdecolores #colorlover

My Blóm Shawl by Mandarine’s I used a skein I dyed last year using a Naked Skein from Space Cadets Creations. I received this skein as part of CAF dyeing class.

Here it is my Blóm shawl by @bmandarines. I loved knitting it. Awesome pattern and you will be able knit this gorgeous shawl soon 😉 #blómshawl #shawls #handknits #testknit

My Holiday Shawl. I finished this shawl at the beginning of the year using a skein from The Sanguine Gryphon in the Mauritius colourway. It is a crescent shawl that has an applier border using a smocking pattern.

This is a shawl that I knit at the beginning of the year that I never showed you. Is the second one in fact. The first I knit it last year while I was on holidays in Greece. I was aiming to write the pattern and publish it, but I never got the time to do

What I am working on:

Messalina Shawl by Kay F. Jones. I am using Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend Colour 2458. The center panel of this shawl makes the shawl astonish.

Today I am working on my Messalina by @bryonybears Did I say that I love the center panel of this shawl? ❤️ Have a great Friday IG Friends 😉 #messalina #moreshawlsplease #commuteknitting #shawls

Askews Me Shawl by Stephen West. I am using three colours. The variegated is Another Crafty Girl in Sam The Eagle colourway in her Strong Sock base. The bleu one is my “Greek Doors” colourway in the Scala base. The third color is The Plucky Knitter in the Primo Fingering and the Vintage Icebox colorway. I am randomly inverting the colour for a smooth stripy shawl. It is the first time knitting in brioche and I am in love 🙂

I was wondering what could happen if I change the DC for the LC in the Askews Me shawl. Here is the answer 💙 Have you cast on yours? This shawl has endless possibilities 😉 #askewsmeshawl #westknitsSSK #briocheknitting #westknits #colorfull

My Holiday Shawl in Moeke Yarns in the Elena Base. I wanted to knit a third Holiday shawl in a solid or natural color. This is the perfect yarn for it. I think the smoking pattern will look awesome 🙂

Good morning sunshine 😃 #sundaymorning #firstcoffee #earlyknitting #moekeyarns #moreshawlsplease

My Featherweight Cardigan by Hanna Fettig.  I am using Wollmeise Lace in the Resi Colourway.

Siide Garte: 50/50 Silk and Merino in the Ämmerli, and the base is Siide-Fideel Fingering. It yarn is so soft…

Yesterday, I scored this beautiful skein of Silk/Merino from @siidegarte in their "Siide-Fidel" base and the colourway "Ämmerti" I had the pleasure to meet Fides and her beautiful daughter 😃 Thanks @donnarossa_ for bringing this wonderful indi-dyer

Anna & Juan: Cashmere/Merino dyed with Madder and Weld. The colours are so bright and vivid.

Since I want to start dying with plants I bought the Wild Color by Jenny Dean and the Handbook of Natural Plant Dyeing by Sasha Duerr

As mentioned in the episode I would like to put a name to my podcast so I can create a Ravelry Group and host KAL’s, and Giveaways, etc. I would like you to help me deciding between “Crafts Corner” or ” Dreams Workshop”

Please leave a comment with the name you think fits better, and I am going to do a random number generator in the next episode. I will give away a self striping skein in the “Who Fancies Macarons” in my Twisters Dancers Base 80% SW BLF and 25% Nylon. Here a picture of the skein 🙂
